Movement Disorder

There are degenerative conditions of the brain such as Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s Chorea and other malfunctions of the brain cells that produce abnormal movements and at times these movements are non-volitional.  They may range from tremors to spasms.  These movement disorders can be difficult to control and may alter normal activities of daily living.  Lately through a stereotaxic technology lesions can be generated into the deep nuclei of the brain where these movements can be controlled.  Newer technologies are on the horizon, in which the lesion can be generated without opening the skull.
